June 2008 Division Meeting at Northeastern Ohio Live Steamers

Thanks to all the volunteers at Northeastern Ohio Live Steamers Inc in Medina Ohio for hosting Division Four's final meeting of the 2007-2008 season.  Thanks also to our Superintendant Chuck Klein for his work in arranging this event.   Finally, thanks to everyone who stepped in to help with set up and clean up - and all the things that made this a really successful event.

Despite a rainy morning, the afternoon turned out to be beautiful.  These folks have a lot of track and even if riding on trains doesn't do much for you, theses rides were like a pleasant walk through the woods while sitting in a chair!  The Live Steamers kept their trains running (at least two and probably three at a time) throughout the day except during the meeting.   While the steam engines present were a little finicky and couldn't pull us, they were able to give us their sights, sounds and smells during their attempted preps- I don't think any of us were overly disappointed.

The food was good.  Thanks to everyone bringing side dishes.    It was also good to see so many family members in attendance.

The second photo above is of Chuck giving Gary Sole a plaque of appreciation from the Division for Gary's tireless work as Chairman of the 2008 Regional Convention. 

The Live Steamers have a fund raising event called Dinner on the Diner, listed on their website as July 19th (I thought they gave a different date at the meeting, so that date may be subject to revision).

This facility is an ideal location for our group to visit and we hope to be able to return in the future.  Those of you who couldn't make this time, be sure to be there next time around, you'll be glad you did. 

Note:  We were invited back for the June 2009 meeting and had another beautiful day and another great time.
